The Location
Villa Mandala is Surf Maroc's oceanfront Yoga Retreat Centre that is dedicated to yogic values and practice. It’s the perfect place to escape and connect with your inner calm. The retreat center is a 10-minute walk from Banana Village (Aourir) and 5km south of Taghazout, both colourful characteristic fishing villages, famous for their great surf and laid-back, friendly atmosphere. 40km from Agadir’s international airport, and the artistic port town of Essaouira is just over 2 hours north.
This retreat entails a program of daily yoga alongside surfing lessons, and two excursions; it’s the place to go for those of you who want to be immersed in a diverse and inspirational yoga practice whilst having the chance to catch some waves.
Residing on the rugged Moroccan coastline, just outside of Taghazout, Villa Mandala boasts a lush garden, relaxing living areas, plunge pool, and yoga Shala. Above all, the space has a caring and warm-hearted environment.
The Movement
The Yoga Shala, high on the rooftop of the villa, is surrounded by fantastic views of the beach, ocean, and mountains. The shala’s wooden finish throughout and surrounding glass doors allow it to be enjoyed both as an impressive indoor studio or an open airy space for an unforgettable yoga practice.
The shala is fully equipped with yoga mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, sandbags & lavender eye bags. As well as plenty of incense, candles, a little Ganesha shrine (& beautiful Drishti), built-in dimmer lighting and speakers.
You don’t even need to pack your yoga mat! Breath-taking views & the soothing sounds of the ocean helps you feel instantly at peace…
A 60 minute energising vinyasa yoga will take place each morning before breakfast, and a soothing 75 minute yin yoga will take place after your surf day or excursion in the afternoon.
Accommodation
Villa Mandala has eight tranquil bedrooms to choose from that come in a variety of sizes and themes. There are five spacious oceanfront bedrooms, three looking out over the foothills of the Atlas and one downstairs. All bedrooms are ensuite except two. The non-ensuites share a bathroom and there is an additional bathroom on the ground floor. Rooms are doubles or twins. Two rooms can comfortably be a triple. Two rooms are on offer as single occupancy, first come first served.
There are spacious and cosy lounge areas dappled in sunlight and ocean views, a beachfront pool, and sweeping sun terraces, create the perfect haven of indulgence and tranquillity. A large dining area, perfect for those chatting about your surf day, and quiet corners to rest and read.

Rooms 4 and 5 are the only single occupancy rooms.
Surfing
As part of the retreat you will have three full days of surfing, split into AM and PM, with a lunch break in the middle on the beach.
You can be ANY SURF ABILITY because you'll be allocated into groups of ability and experience and taken to the right beaches for you.
The morning surf will consist of a land briefing, beach warm up, and surf lesson in the water with your instructor.
The afternoon surf will be 'supervised' by your instructor and you can go in the sea alone to practice. The afternoon session is optional, if you feel too tired you can relax on the beach and watch your fellow surf friends.
Your surf board hire and transportation is included in the retreat fee.
You can put a refundable deposit down on a wetsuit from the Surf Maroc shop.
Catering
At Villa Mandala, our in-house chefs cook delicious food made from local seasonal ingredients. Our menus are inspired by a delectable mix of Moroccan and international ingredients and recipes. Meals are balanced and nutritious – with many indulgent treats too!
For breakfast and dinner, guests are invited to feast together at sharing tables located on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Our communal meals punctuate the day and form a special part of the retreat experience. For lunch, you will be provided a packed lunch for you to eat at the beach with your fellow surfers.
All meals plus afternoon tea and cake, are part of the package. The chefs are able to cater to most dietary requirements, so please just let us know.
Breakfast banquet
Super smoothies, freshly squeezed juices, fresh homemade bread, crepes, yogurts, a variety of eggs, a daily specialty breakfast dish, dried fruits, nuts, and a rainbow platter of seasonal fruit.
Lunch
Is a freshly made picnic (on the beach or wherever you may be) with varied hearty mixed salads, homemade delicacies, sweet treats, and fresh fruit. It can also be prepared and served at the villa depending on the retreat day.
Dinner
At sunset, feast on gourmet Moroccan and international dishes; famous poolside dips and tapas, spiced chickpeas and aubergines, toasted almonds and apricot rice, and divine chocolate avocado tart are a few of the reasons everyone wants to take our recipe book & chefs home!
Thursday BBQ
Surf Maroc's weekly Thursday BBQ is a main event, hosted in Surf Maroc's boutique Hotel Amouage. They kick things off with mouth-watering dips that’ll make your taste buds dance. Then, get ready to feast on a monstrous BBQ spread that will have you drooling. Explore the CoolShe pop-up souk while grooving to tunes and sipping Moroccan Mixology cocktails. It’s a celebration you won’t want to miss!
Enjoy the comfort of complimentary tea and coffee available all day, accompanied by fresh fruit to keep you energised.
Spa
Surf Maroc offer beauty treatments, traditional hammam and massage at their Amouage hotel. You can book treatments on your arrival, all totally optional and paid directly to the hotel.

Day trip to Agadir Souk and Argan Cooperative:
Agadir's Souk El Had is one of the largest and most vibrant markets in Morocco, offering an immersive cultural and sensory experience. Enclosed within high walls, this bustling souk has over 6,000 stalls, selling everything from fresh produce, spices, and traditional Moroccan pastries to handcrafted goods, textiles, and Berber jewellery.
As you wander through the market, expect the aroma of exotic spices, the sight of colourful ceramics and rugs, and the sound of lively bartering between vendors and customers.
Haggling is part of the experience, so don’t hesitate to negotiate prices. It's also a great place to shop for authentic souvenirs, such as argan oil, leather goods, and artisanal lamps.
Day trip to Sand Dunes:
Just a short drive from Agadir, the sand dunes of Taboga (also known as the Small Sahara) offer a breath-taking escape into Morocco’s desert landscape. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the rolling golden dunes, this natural wonder is a must see and we'll even see some camels.

Between yoga sessions, our qualified surf instructors will take you to waves to suit your ability and provide you with hands-on coaching best suited to beginners and intermediates. We provide board and wetsuits from our hire center so you can travel light.
It’s the package to book for those of you who want to enjoy the positive & transformative effects of a deep yoga practice within a beautiful retreat setting whilst having the chance to catch some waves & have fun in the sun.
